Fire Dance, commissioned by the City of Fort Myers Public Art Committee, was installed in Centennial Park and dedicated in March of 2012, suitably with a fire dance performance.
During quieter occasions people can enjoy more intimate moments beside and under the sculpture. The piece incorporates a bench for visitors to rest and contemplate, giving surprise views from all around and below.
Well lit at night by ground lights, the sculpture also gets a moon view.
The sculpture was inspired by jazz music heard in the park at a festival taking place during the artist's visit to the proposed site in Fort Myers. This central location, in Centennial Park beside the Caloossahatchee River and a short walk from downtown shops and restaurants, often has public festivals and events.
